Rising Star: Raffey Cassidy
- raffeycassidy.com -

Raffey recently shot a new editorial for Interview Magazine which was published online. Raffey is dubbed as ‘the next British breakout star’ and praised for her work alongside Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell! In the article, Raffey also reveals her strange audition process for “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” and talks about wanting to study fashion at university after school. You can read an excerpt below, the full article is available on Interview’s website.

It takes a strong actor to hold their own on screen alongside heavyweights like Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell. Yet in The Killing of a Sacred Deer by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, 15-year-old Raffey Cassidy turns it up to 11 as the coquettish daughter of a reckless surgeon. Born into a creative family that includes a father who lectures on acting and several siblings who also work in the entertainment industry, it was only a matter of time before a young Raffey signed up to the family biz. Her entry into film was sheer luck. Her older brother was auditioning for a role on a BBC drama and “I just happened to be there,” Cassidy recalls over the phone. “The [casting agency] needed a girl and it just snowballed from there.”

Cassidy traded up from bit parts on TV to Tim Burton’s remake of Dark Shadows [2012] age 9, playing a young Eva Green. It wasn’t until her role in Tomorrowland [2015] that her talents came to shine in a starring role as a wise android named Athena. The two years between Tomorrowland and The Killing of A Sacred Deer bore witness to astonishing growth that saw her pegged as the next Carey Mulligan. Though her quick rise brought her to dizzying new heights, it was getting the part of Kim Murphy in Sacred Deer which left her feeling faint. “In London, I did an audition with Yorgos [Lanthimos], which was cool because I had to do weird things like speaking as fast as I can and when I needed to breathe, I had to faint,” she says. Lanthimos, impressed at her fainting skills, cast her as Murphy. “A week later I found out that I got the part.” […]

Raffey was lucky enough to be selected for a fashion editorial for Paper Magazine! It was a fun photoshoot for Burberry’s Fall 2017 collection, in which she got to model alongside Blondey McCoy, Lennon Gallagher Levi Dylan, Iris Law and Kelvin Bueno. I have added the four images from the shoot to our gallery.

In addition to the images, Paper Magazine also published a short behind the scenes video on Facebook, in which you can catch a couple quick glances of Raffey during the shoot. If you’re interested in seeing how the actual images were taken and what a photoshoot looks like, be sure to watch the video below!

Earlier this month, Raffey flew out all the way to Canada to attend Toronto International Film Festival! Raffey and the cast attended the canadian premiere of “The Killing of a Sacred Deer“, where Raffey stepped onto the carpet wearing a stunning lace dress by Louis Vutton. I have added images from all the events as well as images from promotional photoshoots to the gallery. Be sure to also view the short video from the premiere below!

This week Raffey was featured as a ‘rising talent‘ in the British publication ES Magazine! Luckily for us, the article was also published online along with a stunning new photo of Raffey. You can read Raffey’s part of the article below, also be sure to click on the photo to see it in full size!

Raffey Cassidy

Worsley-born Cassidy has been acting for more than half her life: the 15-year-old#s career accidentally kicked off when she was seven and waiting for her brother Finney while he auditioned for the BBC’s Spanish Flu: The Forgotten Fallen in 2009. The producers suddenly decided they needed a little girl, invited Cassidy in and she won the part (her brother, who still acts, didn’t. Oops). Since then it’s been one starry production after another, from Tomorrowland with George Clooney in 2015 to Allied with Brad Pitt in 2016 — although her favourite role was playing the young Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman, alongside Kristen Stewart (‘I had a really cool daily training routine of swimming, gymnastics and martial arts for nine months’). The next big deal is creepy thriller The Killing of a Sacred Deer (the cult film of early 2018, FYI) starring Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman, in which Cassidy’s American accent comes from watching the Disney Channel.

What would you do if not acting?

‘I’d really want to be a fashion designer. Me and my sister are actually making a dress for my mum.’

As some of you have probably already seen, Raffey and the cast of “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” recently traveled to France to attend the prestigious Cannes Film Festival! The festival is a huge event and takes part over a couple days, including a film competition. The film won the Best Screenplay award, so a huge congratulations to Raffey and everyone who was involved in the making of the film! Of course Raffey and the cast attended a few events to promote their film. I have added some images from those events to the gallery, I will add more as they become available. In addition, you can watch a video from the red carpet event:

Earlier this week Raffey attended the UK Premiere for her new feature film “Allied“, which is opening in theatres worldwide in the next couple of days! As always, Raffey looked absolutely stunning on the red carpet, wearing a classic little black dress along with some cute olive green sandals. In the movie, Raffey plays Anna Vatan, which makes her Brad Pitt’s on-screen daughter! Her role is described as “small but pivotal” by Entertainment Focus, which confirms that Raffey only appears in a short sequence of the film. Nonetheless, I cannot wait to see the film! Be sure to check out the images from the premiere in the gallery.

Hello everyone! I apologize for the lack of updates, but college has recently started and is keeping me rather busy. However, I definitely do not want to keep these gorgeous images from you! In August, Raffey was photographed by Rich Hardcastle for the October issue of Hello! Fashion Magazine UK! Raffey is wearing a stunning dress by Italian designer Vivetta, which I absolutely adore! If you’d like to see the new photos, be sure to check them out in the gallery by clicking on the thumbnails below:

Hello everyone, I have some very exciting news to share with you today: Raffey has booked a new feature film called “The Killing of a Sacred Deer“, which is currently filming! Raffey will be playing a character named Kim, we do not know any details about her character yet unfortunately. However, we do know that the film is going to be a psychological thriller, so it is a genre that Raffey has not done yet! I can’t wait to see the film, which is supposed to premiere in 2017.

The story follows a young man that needs to take revenge, a doctor that has to make a decision, and his family that must survive. A psychological thriller with supernatural elements.

Inspired by a Euripides tragedy, the story centers on Steven, a charismatic surgeon, and a teenage boy who seeks to integrate him into his broken family. When the boy’s actions become increasingly sinister, Steven’s ideal life starts to fall apart and he is forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice.

Today I am more than thrilled to finally share the full version of “Rust” with you! It’s a great short film in which Raffey plays a young girl named Georgie, who is living with her grandfather on an old farm. Raffey did a terrific job playing such a hot-tempered character and of course looks as stunning as always! I have embedded the film for you to watch below. A very special thank you goes to the director of the film, Brady Hood, who kindly gave us permission to share the film with you here on the website.

If you would like to share the film with other fans, DO NOT download and re-upload the film on sharing sites such as Youtube. Instead, please share the link to Vimeo or refer to our website. Thank you!
